religion....
...is not a god made thing, but a man made thing and it is men who lorded over and controlled "their" women by skewing and interpretting spiritual teaching and writings in a very biased way...that is what is wrong with most religions....the notion of a hierarchy of power, with males sitting at the top of the heap...man has gone to great lengths to control people through religion with very few of those endeavours resulting in any kind of good for the religious followers...

Wiccan belivers worship the Goddess and find power in their sex.  I don't think it's religion, but the fact we have priests instead of priestesses that makes it seem women are slaves.  No one can make you a slave.  If you do what you love gladly.  Motherhood and homemaking may seem like slavery to some, but to others it is a joy and privellege to be able to have such a high calling as raising the next generation.  I think it depends on your personal point of view.  But men have a part when they start abusing women and treating them like property instead of with the respect and dignity they deserve.

Dennison .... great answer
I just love it when individuals justify bias by saying those discriminated against are actually better off than if they were treated equally.

God Is Not Biased Against Women Because...

there is no God. Men (who were/are biased against women) have created gods and religions in an effort to control the women who (coincidentally) have that which men uncontrollably crave at a core level.

The leader of the Muslim Congress of Canada advocates a desegregation of women and men during prayer, and encourages women to become conversant in Islamic theory...
