I'm sorry. I'm in a bad mood right now. They say that religion is the
opiate of the masses.  I tend to agree although I've sought some comfort there, myself, at times....

I agree. . .

that man (and woman!) must attempt to find their purpose in life, the magnetic urge and unifying factor that many call God, which makes them more than rats in a maze, trying to get at a bit of cheese. But I think there are many, many gradations between living an unexamined life and true enlightenment. While I am not a simpleton, I am far from spiritual maturity. It seems to me that, though there may be some who have born-again, transformative experiences, for many it's a step-by-step process.

It's like we're all heading for the same destination but taking different airlines and different routes, some with long layovers and delays.

Thanks for a thought-provoking blog.

Afzal
I see in your personal information on here that you are Muslim. I am Christian so we will differe of that alone. I am not attempting to promote my faith in this comment. Just that I find your post very interesting. As a Christian I believe the re-birth is When one accept jesus as their Lord and Savior of their life. At that time a  rebirth of one's spirit litteraly takes place. The Holy Spirit a one person of the trinity then replaces one's spirit living in them as a guide and teacher, as the vehicle through wihich God speaks to them. I am not familiar with the exact experience you state at that moment, but that is mine as a Christian I wanted to share with you. Thank you for posting.

I agree
I agree with a lot of what you say. Man was not made  just to satisfy his own whims with superficialities. His ultimate goal is to reinvent himself through connection with truth.

I think re-birth or awakening can happen many times in our lives as we become more aware of others, or our purpose, or even move from one purpose to a new one in different phases of our lives.
