My sentiments exactly. Despite some of what goes on in here and without, we can hold reasoned, rational discussions of religion.

yes, and you just make sure that you get good grades, and keep your room tidy, too! Otherwise you're grounded.

Ariel, I just read my second setence and cringed.
"Clarity of thought and expression come from clear thinking". Well, duh. Okay, shoot me now, I've fallen into sloppy thinking patterns. Too much blogging has baked my brain.

I'd like to hear more about the wasp. Wasps are the antichrist.

Ariel, I appreciate your posts...I dont necessarily agree with all that....
you say, but we can agree to disagree without arguing (debate, yes..argue, no), and still respect each other's opinions...

Ariel,
Well, getting back into this subject, I'll give it my best shot. Clarity of thought and expression come from clear thinking, true, I beleive. There have been highly literate Christian thinkers, many of whom I've never read: CS Lewis, many monks and nuns, who have attempted to explore and elaborate on their faith and the principles thereof.
However, I have engaged in these kinds of debates before, one notably with one of our other resident atehists, and come to no great resolution, because I simply could not convince him that I was not being illogical or irrational to believe as I did. We simply approached life from opposing a priori premises, which is where all logical syllogisms spring from: A+B=C, only my A, inherent premise, is that God exists, and his is that God does not. We came to an impasse and rude words, I felt highly insutled at being called irrational, when I was every bit as rational as he.
However, my beliefs stem from EXPERIENCE, an irrational beginning, empirical, but I cannot prove to him that God exists and he cannot prove to me that God does not. I don't think that will ever change, except if he were to experience something to similar to my own, and have a "conviction of the holy spirit" as some like to call it, the end to the long, dark tea time of the soul (as Douglas Adams calls it). I call it God.

Good to see you back in rare form, Ariel70,
I'm not feeling up for a religious debate just now, but you do it in great style.

Really, I am surprised at you! Did you actually read the first few lines of my post? In which I stated explicitly that not all Christians are bad writers?
Where is the insult in this?

The reason you got so many nasty comments is because your
Blog Title insults us. It says basically that all Christians are pathetic writers. That is simply not true! I'm an excellent writer and would be much more successful by now if not for my lazy habits.
That being said, generalizations such as this are never popular. It's like saying, "All black people are on welfare." or "All Engishmen are stuffy, know-it-alls."
Joel Osteen, a highly sought after preacher from Houston Texas has a book called, "Your Best Life Now" which has been on the Best Seller List for many months now.
