Look at how the early disciples of Christ lived,
following the apostles -- as detailed in the Book of Acts. A communal life, giving what they could and taking what they needed.
The hoarding of wealth was discouraged. This is an awkward lesson for our culture, which for all its lip service to antimaterialism is highly materialistic.

Burly,
That is so thoughtful. That's what Jesus wants.

I agree fully. We need as much as it takes to sustain us. I've thought many times what I would do with a great deal of money if I came into possession of it and I've always imagined what great good I could do with it..give it away to research foundations, soup kitchens, Children's hospitals, almost never thought about what I would want it for. And the delicious part is to do it completely anonymously. Just between God and me. What better way to use money!

Money does matter.
Without it you can't pay your rent or electric bill. Then you gotta live in a cardboard box under the freeway. We just shouldn't worship it as if it's a god though.
