And then you also remember that somewhere and sometime your 'drinking daddy' in my case
was hurt or betrayed or neglected and messed up when he was just a child and took to drink to ease that pain or to avoid it....and you feel sorry for them instead of hating them. We all finally forgave my dad, his pain was enormous and we hadn't known. I'm still angry that he couldn't get help and stopped drinking only when it began to kill him outright....but, we had a good End Time.......
Avoidance works well, as well as can be expected.

Jemmie, I understand your feelings about your mother.
My mother verbally abused me for as long as I could remember. It took me many years of therapy to get rid of my bitterness and anger toward her.

I think I understand now.
My mother, when she was sober, raised me well. I had a great education. I had a lot of extracurricular activities. I was pretty well-rounded.
It's her drinking that is the source of my hate. She turns into a monster when she drinks.

I hate my father when
I feel that he hasn't trasmitted to me that knowledge that I reckon he had, and it costed to me a lot to acquire by myself. I
feel as if he was keeping a secret, when he should have told me - I knew anyway, but I had to pay.

You can be my "big." Only you don't have to take me out for four hours each month.

Do you have the feeling that you Mummy told you "things"? That's when I hate my father, when I know he knew that what I discovered by paying myself.

Jemmie, if we weren't so close in age
I'd adopt you here and now and show you a mother's love with support and nuturing.
