meeshe, jacenta: He was a great entertainer. Being a fellow West
Virginian, I felt a kinship with him (undeserved, I know).  Most people feel as if Don and Andy and others were a special part of their lives.

saul_relative...
He was a great actor.  I grew up watching him, too.  It is sad.

He's the reason many watched the show KrystalD. Andy Griffith said that
Don was an integral part of what made the show work, that the original show called for him to be funny, but he and the shows producers and writers (which he and Don became part of later) realized that Don was to be the funny man while he played the straight guy.  Something I did not know:  Don Knotts was on the show for five years and won an Emmy for his performance all five years.

An Immeasurably Funny Man was our dear Mr. Knotts, DrJPT. I have
seen that episode about five or six times and just saw the sketch where he sang "Juanita" over the phone.  It was a rerun of a two-year-old interview Don and Andy did for Larry King Live.

I agree
with you. He was such a great guy, and the only reason I watched Andy Griffith.

Very Funny Guy
My first name is Juanita, and I am not sure if you heard him sing a song about it!! I heard it on a rerun the other afternoon.  The show comes on every afternoon at 5.
