You are correct, they both weigh a ton.  I think I lead you astray when I was trying to illustrate the point how much smaller space the ton of bricks occupies since it is denser.  Denser even than me.  No smoking involved.

Okay, maybe this is a stupid question

So, also I consider (other people do too, now, not just me!) myself a relatively bright person I am going to ask it anyway. How on earth does a ton of feathers weigh more than a ton of bricks? Or did I read it wrong? Am I smoking crack? Would you like some?

I like this subject and ponder it often...perhaps gravity depends on the
object that has the most atom strength to put a pull on another object.
