Awesome catch!
That was a great fish tale. I too love to fish, which seems to drive the guys crazy. Love that lovely specimen you are holding in your hands in the photo. Absolutely luscious. Enjoy. (I would have eaten the heart. I LOVE sushi!)

Nanaroo--- Good For You! As Someone Who Fishes Often and Writes
about it, I've never heard of this "tradition." But I salute you. I suspect that you shocked quite a few of those guys. Did it help you think like a fish? While snorkeling off the Yucatan a few years ago, we collected conches (mollusks with big, hornlike shells) for lunch. Our guide told me that local men eat the male sexual organs of the conches to increase their virility. Well . . . when in Mexico . . .

Another fine sea story! Nicely told, too, and, of course, I like the photo) This time the critter didn't get away (well, a couple did, but it was just a matter of time for one bad tuna...but he had heart ;-). I also liked the description of 25 snoring guys and the engine noises. Boy, can I relate to that. One ship I was on, my crew's mess was directly above the twin propeller shafts. Talk about a racket. Thanks for taking me back to sea, Nanaroo...I needed that. When can I sign on again?

Nanaroo,
Seasick? Not that I know of. I just don't care for white sands and ocean. I'm a mountain type individual with nice running brooks and streams. I don't even care about swimming. Shadow

Nanaroo,
Great story. Too bad I am not a water person or I'd try fishing for tuna sometime. I'll fish from the bank thank you. Shadow

No wonder Quacker's likes fishing on the Pacific side of the country. Here he only has the great lakes, there he has the whole ocean!
Sometime when your out there at night, and all the phosphorescence is around you, jump in the middle of it. It is amazing, it looks like lightening bolts going off everywhere..
Now you have made me hungry for some fresh sushi! I suppose I best find some for that crazy duck too!!

I believe it!
It wouldn't be like having a chilled plate of sashimi, all neatly wrapped...I think I'd better stop or I'll have to go find some! The phosphoresence of the sea at night sounds beautiful. Makes me wish I were there.

Nanaroo,
It is a good thing you like sushi! I do, too, but I'm not sure I could have swallowed it just out of the fish. I heard another fish story at the coffee shop yestersday. I was chatting with a guy who likes to go sport fishing in Mexico. He said he was on one trip, when someone challenged their guide to eat a raw fish. He did...ripped the head off and ate the whole fish. No thanks.
