Ms. Blanco is one big idiot!
The people of Louisiana had a chance to elect a fine you man for the post, but gave the nod to Blanco. They are getting what they deserve. Wonder if they have any of that granite left over?

CorbinDallas,
Even if it is symbolic, I think you're right that excess or opulence is not the right tone for the governor to set. I'd like to hear Passionflower's account of the reconstruction. The cruise lines billing at an enormously inflated price to house evacuees still get my goat.  During WWII, they would have been commandeered or offered at cost, I'm sure.

Why is it........
I feel like I'm being offered some cheese on a nice little wooden board with springy metallic trim?

Once again, corbin,
your logic in defending the fallacies of the federal government, is impeccable.

Corbin, that is what has been happening. Posh Restaurants in New Orleans
to appease the Mayor and fine offices to appease the Governor. I am for the people of all that area getting a good start. I am not for those two finding ways to pocket a bunch of it. That has been the tenor of that state for decades and decades.

CORBINDALLAS
This woman is one of the most incompetent people I have ever seen hold an office. From the beginning of this disaster she has made one bad decision after another. No, the people who need the money the most will never get anywhere while this woman is at the helm. At first I thought they were going to monitor everything that went to LA., but that obviously isn't going to happen. I am not shocked by her spending, I am shocked at what she is spending it on. With someone like that as governor, I hope the people of LA. make a change when it comes time to vote. Who knows, by that time the money may already be gone!

Shadow

I'm not doubting what you are saying....where did you hear that.....

I had seen that Jackson had received a 55.4 million dollar bill from the Federal Government.    Then,  when I read the story......it wasn't really the city if Jackson.....It was the state government which is located in Jackson......

That headline threw me...until I read the actual content.

I am sure there is going to be dozens of cities eating at the public trough....the forms are there...the system is there...bu the most important part...monitoring is always lacking.

NON-PARTISIAN STATEMENT ALERT:

Our federal government has gotten so large that it is virtually impossible to keep track of every thing going out.  This monster wastes at least 15-20% of the tax dollars coming in..........

I have for 30 years been an advocate of providing a system where employees and management personnel could receive a bonus that would be  a percentage of what they find wasted.  It would also apply to money saved by a department or division.  There is currently no reason for federal employees to care if they same some of our money........

Corbin I agree that is disgusting, everyday they show
a man or a woman cleaning up the mess in their houses so they can move back in. They are toiling in filth to bebuild, to bring life back. I don't think there will be any marble in what they are doing.
