...gosh the whole of the possum community might have been jostling for position to get chosen for the big celebration...and those damn do-gooders put the kabash on the highlight of the year. Now don't call me any names or anything but I once gave a donation to Peeta before I really knew who and what they were (over the edge kooks) I thought they were just another Humane Society type place that looked after stray animals...I was horrified when i found out differently. Animals in labratories are absolutely necessary for the advancement of medical science...unless we are going to get the Peeta folks to volunteer their brains for the endeavor. Cute post! Sorry for the long winded response

If the stories are true of the tenacity of the Mountain People
We may hear of an activist possum being dropped from a high post for the 2007 fireworks..... Let me know if there is more information on this LOL Fun good post.

Over Groundhog's Day?  Or is it coming this year?

Corbin,

You would think that the animal rights activists would be more concerned with the animal cruelty still going on in New Orleans then to worry about one well-fed opossum that was apparently given good treatment, then turned loose to go its merry way. Hell, how about all the circus animals that are made to perform in acts? What the hell is the difference? Shadow

Corbin...Looking ahead to next year: There's only one thing to do about this! Sue the extremists for depriving a poor possum of  the best meals he'd ever have.

Corbin,
I will grant you that animal activists go to ridiculous extremes. I doubt the live possum was probably in much danger, or if he was, most humans eat animals.

What an amusing story!
It almost sounds too absurd to be true, doesn't it?
