Avant,
Thank you for your prayers. It is wonderful to know the love of so many people and I thank you for expressing it. Never fear, my faith will never grow weaker. It is things like this that make it stronger. It's knowing that others care so much and are praying with me and for me. Bless you and all the bloggers who are praying for me. I love you all.

myddrin,
Thanks so much for the prayer and for the suggestion. Actually, Dad is pretty much now just drinking the Boost and Ensure shakes (which are refrigerated) since he can't swallow much else. You're right, the cool is soothing to his esophagus. Thanks for the suggestion. He likes milkshakes.

We love you, too. That is meant from the heart, as you already know. I pray for your strength and faith as well.

RAME
Absolutely I will add to prayer list.  One thing you need to consider is, if you get too stressed and pulled in different directions, you will become ill. So try to take a few minutes each day just for you!

Rame,

My prayers are joining the rest and your name will join the prayer request list at church. Don't know if you have tried this, but we found that milk shakes, not McDonalds, maybe Dairy Queens was both a excellent source of providing some type of meal as well as helping to cool her throat as by the end she was having a extremely hard time swallowing. The cancer had worked into her stomach and acid was backing up causing her throat to burn. We were lucky because we had a local mom and pop's Tastee Freeze, Dairy Queen. The owner would never charge me for my mom's milk shake when he found out who it was for. The doctor said that the milkshake if made with real ice cream and milk (like they use to) would be more smoothing than anything for her inflammed throat. Shadow

I am so moved that so many
of you, meesche4, Tapsel-T, avant-garde, BrightIrish, MysticGmekeeper, FLIGHTPATH, lovlyladymonk, dancingsumo, and RckyMtnActivist, have all come to my aid with your prayers. My dad and I need them and they are all appreciated, more than you can ever know. I doubt that I'll be able to do much more than answer comments and read and comment on a few posts once in awhile with all that is going on. I want desperately to finish posting my first draft of "Life With A Sociopath" and to post on some of my other blogs but time for me is at a premium right now, as you can imagine. Dad is doing pretty well, considering. He has not lost his appetite, though he can't swallow anything that isn't soft, like pudding and such because it is so painful when it passes the cancer area in his esophagus where they are radiating. If he takes some medicine for that just before eating, it helps a lot but who knows how long that will last. Also, he has medicine for nausea, which is a life-saver because vomiting would be devastating to his esophagus. He has medicine for the nausea too and it is very effective. Once again to all of you, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!! I love you all!

RAME, A lesser person would be overwhelmed with all of this.  I know that your faith in God will carry you through.   My prayers are with you and with your Dad.

RAME

you have both my prayers and my understanding. my father-in-law had esophageal carcinoma. He wouldn't go to the Dr. until he couldn't swallow anything other than a sip of chicken broth off the end of a spoon. He had to have a feeding tube inserted. Caregiving of family members is never easy and always hectic and demanding. Take time for you when you can...hugs from Keeper
