Maggie

It was kind of odd for me today actually.  Each time there was a PSA, etc... about the day I had to remind myself that included Carl as well.

Mike

That is truly a question for the ages I am sure of that.  I generally try to avoid the politics of this conflict because for me it really doesn't change a thing no matter where I stand on it, my husband is still in harms way and I hate that with every fiber of my being.

My husband believes with ever fiber of his being that we need to be there and that we can make a difference for not only the people of Iraq but for our own people as well.  There is a good deal he tells me and probably more that he doesn't tell me but he went in with the attitude of not having an opinion and in his time there he has become passionate about making sure there is no chance for his children to be there 10 years down the road.

Is it ever right to kill another...the part of me that has human compassion says no, but there is also the part of me that wants to live in a free country and I want my kids to live in a safe place without fear.  Will this conflict make it so?  Probably not, but maybe it's a small step in that wish.

This probably does not help you in the least.

this one is posted in one of the buildings in Fort McCoy

i like it...

...but more and more i question whether or not what i'm doing as a soldier is right.  i suppose "right" is really nothing more than a point of view...

...but then again, that's the arguement that Darth Sidius uses on Anakin Skywalker when he turns him to the dark side of the force.

i've been very, very confused on this subject for a long time.  i mean, no disrespect to those that are sacrificing themselves overseas, i know that THEIR intentions are mostly honorable, and the feats that they perform are no less than unbelievable...but is killing people right?  maybe if you have absolutely no other choice...but i think we had a choice in this case.  and that leaves me with mixed feelings about the cause that i'm serving.

here's the way i think of it...imagine you're on the playground in elementary school.  you see a little boy beating the hell out of a smaller boy that is completely defenseless.  enraged at the injustice, you go and kick THAT kid's ass.

now, if the teacher caught you, she would probably say that what you did was wrong; that you shouldn't fight fire with fire...

...so why are our attitudes so different when it comes to other countries?

thoughts?

Thank you for sharing this, Military_Wife.  November 11 will always be a special day for me to remember and be grateful for all those who have served and sacrificed.

MW

Yep, that is fabulous!!

A coworker of mine went to a screening of a documentary about WWII earlier this week. She came and told me about it. Wow! I was speechless, just speechless. Seems that maybe everyone should be required to watch that or something similar to fully appreciate all that we have.

Bless you, your soldier, and the nameless/faceless men and women who defend our honor and freedom and make personal sacrifices for America.
