Thank you for the vote of confidence, Barroness. And I agree. Given the
rise in popularity of blogs and their ability to inform the public, not to mention swaying the public in certain directions if influential enough, I believe we can make a difference, especially among those who aren't too narrow-minded or parochial to listen and learn.  At the same time, we have an obligation to be open-minded in return, to be honest and factual to those we wish to alert and sway.  The public is easily led by half-truths and misdirection without much substance.  Look at urban myths promulgated and disseminated on the internet. We can do better.

Well, twizliz, embedded journalism is a grueling business of constant
hardship in combat situations.  The perks are getting to come home after a certain period of time (which our troops cannot -- they're supposed to, but it's really not up to them) and being able to write a bestseller about it (which most of our troops cannot or will not, or both).   Just be glad you're not there.  And remember:  the pen may be mightier than the sword, but I don't think it's a good idea to be taking notes when someone is unloading an AK-47 in your general direction.

I just found you blog
and have added you to my list. If enough of us take our views to the people, perhaps we can really bring a wake up call and fix our Democracy. "My Take"

I had a hard time reading about the attack.. I have yet to see the video. It scares me to think that before I graduated college I seriously considered putting my resume into news agencies that would have taken me over to Iraq. I wanted to become an embedded journalist, but that was quickly dashed by my family and friends. And I suppose that I am lucky that I didn't decide to go and get a job that would have taken me over there to cover the news. God bless them over there.
