I wrote a post sometime back about recording family histories....I "interviewed" Mama...it is very important....and wonderful to have it on tape, especially; you get the sound of their voice and flavor of their personality that way.  I'm lucky that a cousin has done the whole formal family tree...but it's so nice to have the "stories"...

I'm sorry I didn't go back and remove the reference to the two photos I couldn't get posted....I think I was so amazed I got any in there at all!! Anyway, thanks for reading even once....and so glad you enjoyed. I loved Nanny and adore Mama....fantastic women and I'm sooooo lucky to have their genes....wish I'd do them a little more justice!

Glad you enjoyed.....and I find it amazing, too; they dressed like this just to go shopping!  I have some others that I will post eventually.  I have a couple of my parents, especially, that I think are just killers...taken in a park....just like from a movie or something...

Thanks for sharing! what a lovely story of your family!

great start on a genealogy
of your family. I started a "family stories" notebook a few years back, sent copies out to all my sibs, asked them to send me their favorite stories of kids growing up, etc. If I'd open a family album at the kitchen table and turn on my tape recorder, I'd get the stories, but it's harder than finding hen's teeth to get them to write down the ups and downs they remember. The trick is to realize how interesting and important this is before the folks with the memories have passed on.  :)

Wow....Such a lovely family tree, Krisles......
I enjoyed this family piece. In fact, I read it twice, juts to figure it all out. I like that you developed who your are from strong women. More power to you. And the photos are priceless. The middle photo says it all----glam, glam glam and sexy shoes. I miss that dress-up era, too.

Look at the two women in the
middle picture (your mother and her friend)! Isn't it amazing when you look at pictures like this! A single moment in time is frozen. Just look how sophisticated these women looked--the way they dressed! The picture of your mother as a little girl on the porch is awesome, too. Thanks for sharing these.

Krisles,

These photos are great. It gives you a glimspe back into a different era that will never return again. Our past is our connection to our future. Wonderful, story. I so love to learn about people's personal history. Shadow

I love the sepia ones, too.....and I'd love to see the one of your mom and friend walking down the street...I think that is such a cool thing....a moment in real time....captured.  They were something else, weren't they?  Glad you are enjoying.....and, again....thank you so very much for all your help....I couldn't have done it without you.....

Glad you enjoyed!  And these are old "looking" because they are old!....couldn't resist, you know!  My grandmother was born in 1900....always freaks me out when I hold these photos....and think about her holding them....and standing there when someone actually took them...you know?...the real thing?!  I'm enjoying sharing them....

This is great.  Super photos of your women.  Love that days-gone-by sepia tone, too.  That photo of your mom caught by the street photographer got my attention right away because I have an almost identical one of my mother and her friend walking down a street in England, taken from almost exactly the same angle.  I'm going to hunt around for it.  If I find it, I'll send it.  You'll see what I mean.  So cool that you've got some Canuck in you, too.  I'm enjoying these posts a lot
