There is no doubt in my mind, DamonLeigh, that if Congress and the

American people don't step up, we'll be in Iran soon, Syria soon thereafter.  Dubya has three more years to mount his unholy war, facilitate the second coming as best he can.  Listening to him on C-Span today, talking about how his aggressive offensives against Afghanistan and Iraq have got us fighting terrorists there instead of here -- what a load of horseshit.  And he said that right after he listed numerous cities around the world where terrorists have been active. I think the lame fucker has graduated from booze and coke to something far stronger and more hallucinogenic.  How can a rational human being even for one second entertain the notion that just because we kill a couple insurgents in Iraq or Afghanistan, that this is keeping terrorists from coming into the United States and implementing an attack?  Or is it that he beleives that we're all so gullible as to accept his word as gold?

Unfortunately, DamonLeigh, I believe those bases are permanent.  Exhibit 1 in the case for an Imperial America.

I Heard...
...an ex-US military guy on the radio last week saying that the bases the US are building for themselves in Iraq are permanent bases, not temporary ones.

This goes some way to confirming my suspicions that Bush has no intention of pulling out. In light of the sabre-rattling and plans regarding Iran, Iraq will be seen as a beach head and base for operations across the border.

This gets worse by the day.

Thanks, katray. Would that someone in the executive office be confronted
with a provoking thought, especially concerning this increasingly costly war (on all counts).

Sorry, Military_Wife. In light of everything, you are showing terrific
restraint.  I generally use four or five good and foul words in a row just to get warmed up talking about this damned war.

I read about this yesterday

Supposedly after the constitution is ratified and another election is held following that turning point (yeah Another one!) the drawdown will commence. Right...

Addition to your military math - More devastating bombing runs, more doors in more neighborhoods blown into and increasing numbers of families dragged out of their beds in the middle of the night, more innocent Iraqis hauled off to prisons where they languish until they are cleared of flimsy charges, more civilians maimed and killed equals: More & Deadlier Resistance...

...on and on, such a vicious circle we are trapped within..

Thought provoking post Saul.

Foul Language Ahead
Please forgive the language here:  FUCK!  This is truly the last thing in the world I wanted to hear.  Though, I have to admit, I knew it was coming...at least expected it.
