Quirky
i have a tendency to write something with a odd humorous slant that probably isn't going to be obivious without facial expression and body language. we know ourselves (kinda:-) and we know what we are saying. teh person reading has just those stark words on a page to lift our meaning out of...i imagine we are all misread and misunderstood frequently

Oh, now I get it--I thought you meant that you didn't know WHAT you were saying...not that you knew but might not have articulated it--big difference! lol.

Ms. Quirky...What I meant is, sometimes I have trouble hitting......
the nail on the head. So I am not sure if maybe my point was misguided. It's a challenge to make a point in writing. Sometimes I believe I've hit a homerun. Other times, I am not so sure if I've grounded out, haha.

Yes, true. But I tend to weed some people out that are never going to "get" me.
I don't want to be the "every man", so to speak.
If there are but 3 people who get me then I am happy.
I suppose I don't want to be popular. :)

Hi. Ms. Quirkyalone.....That's a good post..
I try to comment on writing style and description, etc. I might miss someone's point once in a while. And I think I might have missed my point when I write, also. You wrote it well, by the way...

Good post.
I tend to like to make absurd comments and see how people interpret them. Eventually people get the idea that you are never really serious.
Good post, though.
Even so far as writing a novel, we can hasten to think that our tone is completely audible until someone who reads it takes it entirely the wrong way. Thank god for friends who will read and comment!

IM is worse
I have a warped sense of humor, and I've worked with/dealt with a lot of cops/firefighters over the years. We'd talk, many times, IM late at night because of how the shifts run. I can't tell you how some of those conversations blew up. You can't see the sideways smile, the lifted eyebrow or the deadpan stare. Instead you have black and white words, so unless you know the person really well, most often you'll let your sense of sight take over on it. Kinda like those mental tests they give you where the word "blue" is written in yellow.

If someone gleans anything from what I write, I am happy. There have been a couple of times here that the reader was so off base of my intent, I had to read their comment over and over to make sure that I was reading right. You just never know...

Quirk,
A very concise and meaningful post. I had my comment all planned out, then I hit the last paragraph and you took the words from my mouth. Very Good. It should be required reading for all writers, bloggers or not. Sometimes, like today, I feel almost like giving up Blogit, then I read a post like this and change my mind.

for those of us with a rather "dry" sense of humor...
a lot of what we write is misinterpreted. I have a gift for self-deprecation that makes some people squeamish. It's a curse sometimes, but really cool when you come across someone who "gets" you. Oh, and btw, I'm like you on the comments thing. Takes two.
