Personally, Symph, I like to read the comments, even if it's just a hello.
On the slimming front, how about taking some days off alcohol. Sam and I try it a couple of days a week and one week a while back we managed four. World record. We started keeping a diary of units too. That helped us to cut down.
Long walks too. With kids or without.
Hope you win the bet.

AH Symphony
You must remember before the counters were put there. You would recieve one or two comment, or maybe even none, and wonder why you were even bothering. Now at least you can see that there were two people who actually read your post, even though only one bothered to comment.

Hello
I know the feeling. I have a few people who comment on my book about sailing around the world and getting feedback is very important to me. You are right. It is often hard to know what to say but I too try to say something that will make the person feel they have made an impression or answer a call for advice etc. For instance, you probably just need a schedule for the diet thing and loo at it everyday and focus on sticking to it. Mixed with exercise, its not too hard to shed a few pounds relatively quick.
PS. So sorry about the mess in London. We wish you the best. I have been to 34 countries and GReat Britain is my favorite by far in all respects.
Best wishes!

Not long ago I reached number four in opinion--only one blogger between me and Queen Ariala, and number 9 overall--yet I was getting few comments. There were a couple of explanations, but they were not really satisfying. I read a wide variety of bloggers here but don't always leave a comment. Sometimes I have nothing positive to say. Sometimes I have nothing to say--period. When I do comment, it is usually because I really care about what you wrote--whether I agreed with you or not--and I want to respond. Timmy T doesn't care what you say as long as he knows you were at his site. "Hemlocker was here" apparently is better than nothing for him. Do you agree?

symphony,
If you don't have time to cook 3 times daily, then you can consider cooking and storing in fridge for the day. Fresh veggie & fruit salads are quick to fix. Don't keep alcohol at home. Drink more water regularly. Good luck.

dieting is not the complicated thing everyone makes it out to be. its a very simple formula...put in less units of energy than you burn and you will lose weight! It doesn't matter what form the unit comes in, pasta or fish, potatoes or salad....I eat virtually all the foods I like, but not alot of them..i would die without starch, sugar and fat, and I'm a thin person, well 5'5" and 120...not fat for sure:-) My daughter kept trying to lose weight by running but she stuffed herself and no weight came off, when she cut back on the food quantity she lost 20 plus lbs....but she eats what she wants and doesn't deprive herself of anything just not alot of it...one donut or cookie not 5:-) my husband has done the same thing. I get discouraged with my readership too, i know i don't have enough time to read alot of other people and it hurts my readership, I read the people i really enjoy and I read them with interest....its frustrating when you post things and have 0 comments. I'm always contemplating leaving blogit and going to a free site. Other places you don't have to pay to write, and if no oen is going to read then why should I pay for the interaction taht doesn't come. SOrry for writing a blog on your blog...but you did have 2 seperate subjects covered in that post...at least you know I read it and heres a long comment to make up for some who leave none:-)

I enjoy the banter that comments often spawn.
I also like to know who was there, probably moreso than if someone was there. Weird, eh?
As to the rest of it, I can tell you that your eating habits are messing you up. You have to keep your metabolism stoked, like a motor -- that means eating regularly.
I'm a fine one to talk, since I'm currently sporting a nice twelve pack ab and my breakfast generally consists of black coffee and a couple of healthful, snackful, delicious Marlboro cigarettes. But the truth is, most of the fitness geeks and folks like that eat five or six times a day -- small meals, but enough to satisfy and keep the metabolism burning away.
I doubt you need to lose weight, but it sounds like it would be fun to win 200 samolians and go buck wild for a little while. So good luck! Take care!

Symphony. I always appreciate you leaving a little comment like a flower
or heart or even one of the kisses when you been to my place. As far as the diet thing, I have no input on that at all. A few extra pounds on a woman doesn't bother me. I know it can be a big issue for the women, and some fellows. I don't comment on it. Make sure it's a sensible diet. and Good Luck to you

Symph,
Its a shame you dislike seafood. Fish is a excellent protein sourch especially salmon, and unless you fry in fat, most fish has low fat content compared to beef, pork, or mutton. I grill all sea food on my little "George Foreman". Best $20 bucks I every spent. Merry has excellent advice about the breakfast. Personally, I'd be determined enough to starve just for the money. As for comments, I like to know that what I write is interesting enough for a response, but, if they don't, then there's nothing I can do. I figure my writing isn't a total loss when they just read my stuff.

Neither comments nor clicks mean much to me ...
however, I am pleased that nearly every comment I've received has been positive.
Elsewhere, I often engender a much different response. Which I do enjoy a great deal ... because I get to reply to them in kind. My typical standby answer being:
"
Look, I'm better than you, okay? I just
am."
I've used that, like, a million times ... and, I swear, it never gets old.

Hey Symph...
..nice bet! I think the way to weight loss is eating three meals a day..balanced meals..low fat/low cal and cut out snacks unless they are very low fat. I'm big on the low fat stuff..you can check the content on most everything you buy. But..skipping meals is not good..you need a steady supply of energy all day. Lots of fruits/veggies/protein...just make sure it's low in fat. We all need some fat in our diets but when I need to lose a few pounds that's what I cut out.

Hi Symph...
I like my comments... personally lol...
As for diet advice I'm sure you will get a lot. The most important thing is to eat breakfast because that starts your body metabolizing for the day (even a good glass of juice is a start.)
I'll leave the others to comment on losing weight, (although I have lost 19 pounds since May.... :-) )
