Thanx for your remark to my comment luv.

I served in the R.C.A.F. in the fifties and spent lots of time with American airmen as well as French and British.

My brothers Michael and Terry served in WW2 in the R.C.A.F.and Michael was shot down and killed in India flying the Himalayas.

Terry came home but has died now of cancer at age 70 a few years ago.

My brother Joe Neil was Canadian Highland Light Infantry, (CHLI) was wounded in Holland but is 80 now and lives in Calgary, Alberta.

Yes and no.  It's sad that so many of my own country do not appreciate what these men sacrificed and the assumptions they made.  The man that I worked with yesterday and the THREE that came to my house today (wait till I write about that), are the most wonderful people I have ever met.  I can't express how much I appreciate them.

My Dear Wiley

You never cease to amaze me...though you did not serve for my country in my opinion you are as much a part of the freedoms I treasure as an American service person.  You served on the side of freedom for all people. Thank you for that service  and my freedom, my  dear friend.

Something I have found often with Vet's is they seldom talk about what they did and those that did some extraordinary things, almost seem embarrassed.  All I know is I adore these amazing men.

What a nice post. Now here's how old I am luv. I was in Oran, Algeria at  a French army base and the Legionnaires were just coming back from Viet Nam before the Americans went there. Everybody got branded for going there. Sad

we can't even imagine the stories they won't tell us....... thats beautiful though, that he carries the picture of her, that she was so kind....
