MW,

I'm the same way.  Once my husband was scuba diving with a group of people from his work.  He left early in the am, and usually was home by noon or so.  By 1 pm I'm getting nervous, starting to pace the house.  2 pm I'm calling the Highway Patrol to see if there were any accidents.  3 pm, I called the Coast Guard, I was so worried he had drowned.  4:30 pm, my husband calls me.  "Hey honey, something weird happened when we got back to the dock.  A Coast Guard cutter came by and asked if we were all ok.  I wonder what that was about?"

Turns out there were more people on that trip and they wanted to go down more than once, so it took longer.  I finally confessed that I had called the Coast Guard.  He hugged me and said thanks for being so concerned.

Thanks!  What did we ever do without cell phones?  I have had a few scares like that.  My husband is one you can set you watch by as to when he comes through the door.  We also live in Michigan which means weather in the winter and construction in the summer...tends to hold things up and I pace and pace and pace.  LOL!

Oh we have all been there even without

our husbands being in the military. Once my husband was supposed to be home for dinner as usual. He did not show and was working in the city at the time. (this was around 1996? and we did not have cell phones then)  Okay, no biggie. I figured he had missed the train. Still no show. I started to get nervous so I called his office. No answer. Several times. Now he was 2 hours late and he would have definitely called to tell me he was running late, etc.  By now I was imagining accidents, shootings, muggings...thank god it was pre-terrorist. I called my parents wondering if he had called there for any reason? Maybe he'd tried me while I was on the phone trying him...

Finally he showed up and I was already frantic with a runaway imagination. He had called to tell me he would be late. But our phone line was not working properly- calls could go out, but could not come in!

Hang in there! Try not to let imagination take too much toll. I know easier said then done!
