Factor

That may be it!  If you know the area at, at the tail end of the beach we could see a lighthouse.  So!  We got in the car and drove to the lighthouse took about a half hour or so to get there.  It wasn't that far from Fort Dix, maybe an hour.  I kind of lost track of time over that leave.

Here is the story

I took this picture at Island Beach (I think that is the name) in New Jersey the day after Christmas.  My husband had never in his life been to the Ocean...anywhere.  He was leaving for Kuwait and then onto Iraq in 3 days, this was our last adventure together.  The Ocean in New Jersey in December...everyone thought we were insane: It was amazing.

So, I get home and drop off my cameras (my digital had broken) to get them devoloped.  My husband called me on New Years to tell me he had made it safely to Kuwait and all he he could see anywhere was sand.  I picked up my pictures an hour later, came home put the disk into my computer and this was the first photo that came up:  FULL SCREEN.  There, he was surrounded by sand and walking away from me.  I chocked at the scene.  The footprints in the sand seemed so very, very fitting.  I titled it "My Breaking Heart".

Now when I look at it, I remember that magical day that my husband discovered the Ocean.  The yo-yo he found on that beach, sits on top of my computer monitor and I smile when I think abuot the water rushing into our shoes and neither of really feeling cold.  It was a magical day.

He was in UNIFORM!  They are required to tuck them into their boots.  LOL!!!  How I love you.  He does have GREAT shoulders.

I am sooooo my Mama's daughter....I took in the ocean, the waves, the sand, the grass and immediately went to his pants' legs and wanted to let them out because they looked too short..then wondered if they were tucked into his boots...then thought his shoulders looked nice....then kept being bugged about the pants......

It was a disposable camera so I am not sure.  My goal was simply to get a photo of the Ocean, a bit later, I will tell you the story of that particular photo.

yeah what is the shaded area? is it residue from something?

i think the dead grass is symbolic in all pictures of that area..... walking towards the ocean. (to ME the ocean is everything that is life so i could go on an on there....)

artistically i think it is simply a beautiful shot. (being beautiful because it is so simple....) but yes, i am intrigued by the dark spot.....

It is the Ocean!  I didn't know for sure if that part was obvious or not.  Then again, nothing else makes waves like that.

Well, in the most shallow perspective, it's a man walking toward the ocean.

If I were to get philosophical, I'd say the dead grass on either side of the path shows the impending passing of the man heading toward the shore where he will be transported to 'the other side'.

But I wasn't sure what the dark swath on the left side of the photo would represent.
