For obvious reasons there are things I can't go into but what I can say is things are rough over there. My husband had an incredibly hard week last week and it's draining him. He just wants to come home and forget that there is Hell right here on earth but he is a soldier and running away is not an option. Instead I spent 3 days convincing him to take his 4 days pass and take a break. He will take it mid-july and I am relieved.
What I know for sure from the soldiers I speak to is this: They honestly and completely want to give the people of Iraq a taste of freedom. They genuinely care about the people there.
Many are shocked by the terror those people feel about ANY government, not just ours or the new one but in general. Most are still terrified to speak out of turn they don't know who to trust or more specifically HOW to trust anyone.
I am not a politian (however it's spelled) and I don't know the in's and out's of the rights and wrongs of this war. What I know is the hell with the government, while there are a few bad apples among the troops (there are bad apples in any group of people), those soldiers are not the government. They are men and women who are willing to die to give freedom not only to their own but to others. Try to look past the news and the nonsense that comes out of the mouths of those who have no clue what it is like to walk in a pair of combat boots and try to think of the men and women who are there and why THEY made the choice to put on a uniform and be there.

thanks...
it amazes me the things we see, read or write which humble us.... i was just reading offbeatpub's blog, sitting here balling like a baby, truly touched. humbled because as of late, i have had really crappy perspective of this war situation.....
narrow minded is what i have been. anyway, thanks first of all for being such a great support to your soldiers.... second, thank you for the kind words you said there about my writing. i am really touched. you are a gem:)

I honestly feel the way the Vets in this country are treated is criminal. My Grandfather was also a WWII Vet and they are all very dear to me. I was at the WWII Memorial over Christmas...many years too late and still not enough in my book.

WOW!!! You seem to have a gift at putting into words all the things I feel towards our military men and women and all our Vets. Thank You. My dad is a WWII Vet and I work at the largest Vets Home in Illinois. I think in this day and age way too many of us take our freedom for granted and show absolutely no respect or concern for those who have fought and are now fighting for that freedom. My thoughts and prayers to all of them AND their families.

I am from Sterling Heights, originally from Hamtramck
I have seen many a news crew out in Hell, doing a story on the name a few times!
With the weather in the 90's lately, I am sure the ...."It's hotter than Hell...." line has been used once or twice huh?
