Most of the Hawaii Mexicans are military.  Not here by choice but because Uncle Sam made them come here.  But we don't have many Mexican residents here--those who've moved here for the long term.

Jems,
I know we had lots of Mexicans living in Chicago, but Hawaii? Hmmm....

Exactly!  I hear each and every word so clearly!

Plus they don't have carpets, so the noise come right through my ceiling.  It's like they're in the same room!  UGH!

In fact, sometimes I can't even hear my own tv--instead I hear theirs!  So I try to find whatever channel they're watching and watch it using only the sound from their apartment--putting my tv on mute.  It's amazing how easily I can follow the program that way.

lol Too funny!

There is another Spanish-speaking couple in my building, but they both speak excellent English.  It's just these folks upstairs that are loud and annoying.  lol

Jems,
Man, I don't know what it is about Spanish people and the loudness of their voice. I live in a predominantly Spanish speaking community and a few of my closest friends are Latin and I'm constantly cracking jokes and comments to them about how loud they talk. My close friend and co-worker, Yoli always hears it from me. I say, "Damn, I'm standing right here! Shit, I could hear her across the street!

My wife is Mexican so obviosly Spanish is heard lots around my house

At parties I just sit there and watch, and man do they talk fast. We have been together 16 years, maybe someday I'll actually learn it.

But I made a deal with them, first they have to learn English!
