However, we include all blogs in a variety of lists on the right hand side of the Blogit Home page including ones written by the newest members on Blogit.

Brian, Already popular blogs gain nothing by being "featured"
Would it not make more sense to feature less popular blogs, so they get more exposure??

Featured blogs are selected randomly from a group of the more popular blogs. The ranking required to be included is subject to change. Blogs are selected based on their overall ranking, not by their ranking within a category, so even if your blog is popular within a category, it may not be featured.
Also, recently updated blogs are much more likely to be selected. If you have a popular blog that is not being featured, it may not have been updated recently.
