And kingmi, I have seen and read several reports on the ingenuity
of our troops in procuring and attaching extra armor to their vehicles for protection. In fact, the new vehicles our troops are getting are better armored and reinforced. The original humvees and other vehicles had little or no armor in the floorboards, making them extremely dangerous.

You are right, scoop. I read somewhere that almost half of our
troops deaths were due to roadside bombs and IEDs. I wrote a small
post on it back in April to bring it to people's attention.

Saul & Scoop, they are getting savvy on the IED.
Reinforced armor, scouts in front of convoys and aggressive operations where insurgent ops appear to be originating.

Saul
Due to the type of "war" our military is fighting, we are dealing with a very high number of soldiers and marines with missing arms and legs, loss of sight, brain injuries, paraplegics. And now they are also reporting very high rates of PTSD. These injury percentages are very high in such a short war. Gunfire deaths are small, it is the roadside bomb that is the main problem.
