as to beans...they are a staple of life in the south

When you buy one...
buy the bigest and best one you can find. The extra expense in the short run will pay big dividends in the long run. A good crockpot will last practically forever.

I, too, must buy a crockpot
However, I cannot stand beans! HATE them! Ick! But thanks for the recipes anyway! Maybe I can make some of these dishes for people I know.
On another note: Just made chicken cacciatore today for the first time ever! Turned out pretty well!
