Hang in there; I know how you feel. Volunteer work is great! My mom does a lot of that. She likes to know she is helping people who really need it, such as learning-disabled kids or elderly hospice patients.
Still, one does have to make money, unless one is independently wealthy (lottery, anyone?)...
