Most definitely a waste of food!
You certainly are right! It was a waste!
But was I really want to know is this: Did you really mean to write this sentence, "The Kitchen is also are in charge of a program that distributes food every week to the poor"?

pickles,
I'm not sure how "fresh" they were, I just felt it was the wrong message to be sending.

maybe at the end of the float they let people
take bagels home? but I agree with your post - a little mean-spirited and not quite right by the sound of it!

Jimmy, I know what you are saying...but more importantly to me, is the message that a food kitchen was sending, that food should be used as a decoration. A little ironic if you ask me.

Those bagels were probably leftover from the leftover...
there is always more bread around than shelters can use. Those bagels were probably the approximate hardness of diamonds, could have been used as blunt instruments in an assault, and would have broken the teeth of anyone trying to east them...bagels get HARD!

Quirky, Hahahaha. That is priceless. Thanks for the visit and the nice comment you left. I was just thinking about you today as I was reviewing my YHT blog. I guess I will try to publish it. I cannot believe that I could evercome up with that amount of BS again in my life. Just the right amount of first-time stimula, like Ari, Klara, Roofie, Taps, Wiley, Ca881, Sassy, David1, Alfie, Voyager, You and many more.

Quirky...
Are you positive they wern't styrofoam bagels or something like that? Or bagels that were green on one side and unfit for consumption? If not then yes, I agree that is is fairly ironic...and wrong it seems.
