Sassy, I hope ya learned from that experience!
The Physics Book of Clumsy Humans clearly states that a middle finger cannot support the fall of an adult human from a countertop. I thought you read that book? K, neither did I. Obviously.

You are as clumsy as I am

I still have a wounded middle finger. When I flip someone off it looks like I am calling them to me instead because my finger slightly curls inward. I took a tumble off of my counter while painting last year. I mistakingly thought that I could break the fall. NOT!

Well, kingmi, I'm sure you would have laughed pretty good
if ya saw me do that. Well, maybe more so if you saw me at the hospital. Somehow, according to my friend, I was quite the comedic entertainer for the doctor and his assistant. I don't remember, though. Must have been after I demanded pain killers!

Jems, you just like to sniff the wet paint, don't ya?
Then you get high and fall into it. Right?

Eeew, Rach! You cut it off?
I broke my toe when I was 5 and I still remember being in the bathtub and the toenail floated off! I screamed bloody murder.

Gypsy, obviously it's MY only way!

Quirky, I don't go to the doctor when I should cause
I always feel like a hypocondriac. I don't know why. Calling an ambulance would have been a big stretch for me! Back in 1997, I had an ulcer and didn't go to the doctor until I was literally doubled over in pain and couldn't take it anymore.

Jesus, Jimmy, duct tape?
And why did the skilsaw attack you? Did you insult it or something?

HolyG, it still serves its purposes, I guess.
I can't feel it, but at least it can type!

LadyofS, it did suck. It still sucks cause it still bothers me.
It's my fault, though, cause the doctor told me to see a hand surgeon, but I didn't. Why? Cause I'm an idiot.

FactorF,
Ouch! Hurts, don't it? I thought about driving myself to the ER, but after I saw all the blood loss and the fact that it was still gushing more and more blood, I was afraid I might pass out on the way!

Spitfire, suffice it to say you were and are hilarious.

kingmi,

The whole yurt experience is still a bit fuzzy, so I'm not too sure!

Yeeouch!

I learn things the hard way too, but I have to admit that my lessons haven't been quite so dramatic.  The worst was falling out of the bed of my parents' truck when I was in the eigth grade.  Cut open my chin is all--seven stiches.

But I've burned myself, cut myself, broken a bone twice (same bone, same place), and gotten wet paint all over me!  Yes, you betcha I'm one of those people who has to test the "Wet Paint" signs!

LOL
I can relate!  I've learned to pay more attention to fingers and toes, period.  When I cut my toe off when I was 14 it freaked me out, and ever since then, I've been more careful.  I don't have any feeling in my toe, and if you look closely, it's even a slightly different color than the rest of the toes!

Spitfire... isn't that the only way to learn???

I'm sure you were in shock, that would have scared the you-know-what out of me...but you probably should have called for an ambulance instead of your friend. Don't handle glass any more, is my advice.

I had a similar experience with my left thumb...
and a skilsaw that attacked me about fifteen years ago, reconstructive surgury and six weeks in a cast...it hurts don't it? all together I've had thirty or forty stitches in my hands alone...and dozens of bad cuts I just repaired with duct tape...maybe I'll never learn...

Something about that instinct to catch glass...

I did the tamer version...washing a glass, it slipped, I tried to catch it and cut my pinky finger...but not as badly as yours! I did drive myself to get emergency stitches though.
