DivineD,
I have had a few similar occurances. Some that have spooked the living crap out of me...Yes, even ME! I am not sure what the circumstances are for any of us, however, I can only assume, as most of us would, that it was either a "voice" heard from within a dream right before awakening (so it seemed as if it came from within reality) or it was indeed, a voice from the other side. The only thing is that usually, it is only a rare occurance as to where a physical living human can/will hear the voice of a spirit or ghost. Another possibility is that it was your spirit guide awakening you for some reason.

When I heard the voice say my name with somewhat of a British accent I thought for a second it was you.....saying "get up, get the coffee on !!"

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who has things like this happen. I've told some people at work and they are looking at me funny now (well funnier than usual that is :)

Maybe your college ghost came to the mainland and visited me??? I wish now that I had stayed partly asleep....and gave into the spirit. The more I think about it the more I'm feeling it was someone trying to reach me. When I went to the channeler I received a message for a good friend of mine who's husband had passed recently, so maybe someone else was trying to get through?

That has happened to me
Well, not the power going out part, but the other part!
I was taking my final class before graduating from the Univ of Hawaii. It was a summer course, and so all of us students had a party attitude even though we were in school.
I was staying in the campus apartments and had three roomies: one from Guam and two mainlanders. The two mainlanders had gone to a neighbor island for the weekend, and my roomie from Guam was comforting a friend of hers who was having some crisis. I was alone in the apartment.
I was in bed, sleeping, facing the wall when I woke to hear the bedroom door opening. I didn't think anything of it since I figured it was my roomie coming back. Then I heard my name. I rolled over to see what my roomie wanted, but no one was there. Still unalarmed, I got out of bed thinking she'd gone into the living room to leave me to sleep in peace.
When I opened the bedroom door, all the lights in the apartment were off. I wandered into the living room, but no one was there. Still, I didn't think much of it.
It wasn't until the next day when I asked my roomie what she had wanted the night before that I freaked out.
"Jemmie, I didn't come home at all last night! I slept over at my friend's place because she wouldn't stop crying."
Yikes!
I was soooooooooo glad I hadn't actually answered the voice that called my name, because in Hawaii we are always hearing stories of people who hear their names called, answer, and have something horrible (from a nasty encounter with a ghost to death!) happen to them.
I still shudder to think of it! But then again, the University campus is notorious for hauntings.
