Symphony,
I'm clueless about kids, so I get more information just reading the comments on your page.  I hope it's just a phase he's going through (quickly).   Take care.

I feel this way a few times a week...

I keep looking at the clock hoping it's time for bed.  I don't remember the last time I got out of the house without children.  Heck, I don't remember the last time I took a shower without children with me...  So, I know how you're feeling.  Just take some time for yourself tonight while they are in bed.  Time for new make up and stuff, I think!  :)

Five things:

1.  Their beautiful laughter.

2.  That special smile they have when your eyes meet theirs.

3.  No matter what, they always love you.

4.  They need you (which is a curse and a blessing...).

5.  A bond.  No matter what, you'll always be bonded to two beautiful people.

the good news is they don't stay that young forever, but
then as they get older a whole new set of challenges can arise. But I've learned now, since my daughter is grown and in the Air Force, that the memories of all the horrible times that I thought neither of us would live through, have been replaced with the joyful ones.
This too shall pass.
But in the meantime, I think loanlady is right.

Seems you're experiencing the
true meaning of the terrible twos. I feel for you Symphony, but I'm not volunteering to watch the kids while you take that mom break.

Crying uncontrollably
Maybe the child has pain somewhere if he is crying uncontrolably. There is a reason.

posted by Experience on February 3, 2005 at 2:24 PM | link to this | reply

  1. A child's smile
  2. Their innocence
  3. A clean baby smell
  4. They're just so darned cute!
  5. They give you unconditional love (while they're small, at least)

He sounds so much like my eldest son was. I never really did find any solutions, but I know I had to keep him occupied all the time. Can you put your son into day care for a couple of hours a week to give you a break?

posted by Ca88andra on February 3, 2005 at 1:37 PM | link to this | reply

Maybe he wasn't feeling well.?  If he's having a cranky day - don't make war with him. Tell him that he can wear his same socks and pajama top ( you have to change the diaper/nappy as that would just turn into a rash if you don't) allow him a little safe freedom to express himself. The walk was a great idea, change of pace and scenery helps you both. I say choose your battles carefully - less battles is less stress for you. Then when you say you mean it be the quick enforcer and follow through completely. Routine is great for little ones, reduces stress for them. Tonight take an extra long bubble bath for yourself when they are down, and close the door! Peace!

thats a wonderful thing to hear.....I think my son is over sensitive to everything too...so if he grows up like your boy...then it will be worth it.....thank you for reading...take care

Oh symph,
my heart goes out to you...my son was a handful too...though he didn't start until he was three years old. I used to put him in the car and drive out into the country just to get him calmed down and fall asleep. I think he was hyper sensitive to everything. But now he has grown into a calm, well behaved young man without an inkling of his past behavior in his younger years. There is always hope.... red

LOL......roofpig ...do you want me to answer that?

posted by _Symphony_ on February 3, 2005 at 11:39 AM | link to this | reply

Oooo Sym,
somedays my Emily is like that. usually a good tickle fit will snap her out of it. there is nothing as funny as baby giggles!

then she and rachel have started playing dress up and fight over the clothes. but by the time they are "dressed" it's pretty funny.

I love baby snuggles, when they are all worn out and just want to cuddle before going to bed. And how about that sleeping kid smell. I can't get enough of that.

Hmmm how about baby kisses. Emily "hmmmms" as she runs at me with her lips puckered for a kiss - that's pretty good.

Hi Symphony...

My nieces and nephews used to do things like this when I cared for them...Only thing you can do is wait it out.  What I love about children is their innocence and abilty to notice and enjoy the simple things.  I know it's hard when nothing seems to soothe them, but try to remember that both Jamie and Shannon love you more than they're able to articulate sometimes.

Hang in there, love...Things will look a whole lot better tomorrow.  So glad to have you back with us!!
