ah, but have you ever slept with a turkey roosting on your nightstand?
I'm right with you there, about attempting to sleep in the presence of a restless menagerie! It's like, they conspire!
I wrote about the turkeys in Everything Else...

mia,
isn't it hard to sleep with our animals? I sleep with my dog (she's very small, 5 pounds) and she usually leaves me alone, although lately she has started burphing at 5 in the morning attempting to wake me up. When the cats used to live in the house, both of them slept with me, one between my legs -- on top of the covers -- and the other at the foot of the bed. It was inevitable that one or both of them would start kneading me in the middle of the night -- so much for sleeping...

Cool post.
I love your descriptions. Most of the time, our cats sleep through the night, but every now and then, it's like the circus of the insane. What fun in the morning. Then I lower myself to the level of waking them during the day in retaliation, but they are too smart for that. They sleep on.

Wowie, I can't let the cat sleep upstairs every night, she drives me nuts most of the time at night. But it is cute when you';re younger I guess. You must be a vey loving young lady

MiaElla,
Well, it's possible the animals end up in your room cause they feel the love, or maybe they want to keep an eye on each other. Thanks for the description, because I so look forward to getting first a cat and then a dog, when we get a bigger place and it's been years since I've had pets. I like the cat pawing your fact thing, the "wake up and pay attention to me, dammit" kitty paw thing.
Thanks for your comment on my blog.

You have a rat, a cat, and a dog? Well I think there's an easy way to resolve this situation, by at least two thirds...moohahhaha

Nothing to write about?
But those wonderful pets...!
BTW: My dog does the same thing. Quiet as a mouse downstairs. Comes upstairs only when it's time to announce her presense to the neighborhood dogs!
