Jim, I feel for you man.
It's so tough for so many people, and then you have those that have so much money they have diamond encrusted ipods. If only lightning struck greedy people. I would leave information about your services and basic info, maybe get your sister to give you a reference if she would since you're not local. Be prepared for a few jerks, just blow them off and focus on the positive responses. Good luck man! :)

You have to charge whatever the market bears, Jim.
In that area. And you must make it as long or as short as necessary. Say enough but not too much. No hard and fast rules here. Tell them, without a doubt, "what's in it for them", not you, much as your proposal letter to the Bishop was.
