Jemmie, I think it's because
it's mostly Army and the Marines that are in Iraq. Not sure about the Air Force, but I think after operation "SHOCK AND AWE" after the air strikes creamed the Iraqi's and our pres (with a little "p") declared "Mission Accomplished" I think they pulled most of the Air force out.

Sometimes hysterical perspective.
I think they ought to call Ollie North back.
Might disrupt his movie and speechifying career though.

Sick sick sick
I'll be letting my Army friends know about this.
Is it only the Army that does this, or do all branches of the military do it?

So THAT's what that smell is!
I'm sorry to say that a portion of our fellow Guard and Reserve members failed to report for Desert Storm because they figured they would never get called up when they "signed zee paypahs!". However, we have since made our military so "streamlined and efficient" we forgot that the reason we have won so many wars is that we are able to bring massive force to bear, not because we are so smart or so fearsomely tough; they also forgot that when war breaks out, people quit afterwards and we have been in one action after another for the last fifteen years or so; this necessitates a call-up if we are to prosecute a war with withering recruitment and a determination not to let this one end badly for us.
I wonder if the Chinese and the Japanese wil play their economic cards soon?

Take a look at a recent post by Shavonne who recently served in Korea. She posted about a friend of hers who is under pressure to return
