No, Rachel, unfortunately they don't make good pets.
Even though many squirrels are "people friendly" they are still wild animals and don't like to be contained. That's the hardest part of raising infants. Once they are big enough and taught enough to live on their own, you have to let them go. Some, only some will refuse to leave, but the majority do when they're ready and unafraid. It's a long process to "train" them for the big world. There's so much involved. Needless to say, ya get attached to them, as they get attached to you as their mommy and they have their own personalities, too. I cry every time one leaves me for the last time, but they usually live in the trees around my house.

Can't you just keep them?!
Do they make good pets? The squirrels around here seem to really like people, which is odd, because I've never really noticed it before living here.

Oh, Evangeline, I'm sorry your squirrel isn't around!
Maybe he's off, ya know, building a family? I hope so. Ya never know, maybe he'll be back. I hope so!

After Ivan, the squirrel I fed on my porch disappeared.
We didn't get hit hard at all, but since the storm, he's gone and I'm over here with bags of squirrel food. Might there be another reason, like hibernation? I'm an idiot, I realize, but I miss my squirrel!

So teensy-tiny!
Here's hoping the cuties survive with your love and care. They are in the best of hands.

yes, Quirk, they are very, very tiny!
I think I may lose one of the boys, though. (Not uncommon to lose one or all of such a young litter) He's very weak and doesn't eat too well. I may tube feed him tomorrow if he still isn't doing well. I think he's the runt. I hate to tube feed any baby, but I have to at least try to save him.

Symph, you can have them all!!
It's one thing to raise one, but four? Holy crap. No sleep whatsoever! But, it's worth it.
