I have good friends from Colville

What a great post!
This was very touching. Thank you for sharing. I am soon to be my fiance's daughter's step-mom. Luckily she and I get along really well, so I think the transition will go well. Plus her birth mom is still alive, and I am friends with her as well.
I've told E that when J and I do marry, she can continue to call me by my name and doesn't have to call me "Mom" if she wishes not to do so.

Touching post F4T...
My husband is the step-dad for my three kids too, and everything you pointed out is similar in our case. The sad part is that my kids have their father close by, here in town, but he's never even been out to see his son race, not even once. The kids visit him every blue moon, lately hardly at all, but none has a real relationship with him, and probably wouldn't know much of a difference if he wasn't there at all. Bigmac has taken on every aspect of being a DAD, instead of just being a father figure by going through the motions. It sounds like me and my kids are pretty lucky to have come across a man willing to do so much. Sounds like you recognize that you and your Mom were pretty lucky too...
