I'm so sorry. Stay strong. I've been sitting here trying to think of something wise to say, but you've said it all. My heart is with you and Brittany.

Sweet Symphony,

Thank you for your kind words. She goes in tomorrow morning to the specialist to have an ultra sound (I don't have the machine at my work.) They usually can tell if it's malignant just from that. I'm praying!

SpitFire - I am so sorry to hear this

I hope you get through it all okay, or as best you can anyway.

Thanks Pecan,
I know she's not ready yet. She's still herself, eats, plays with Stonci, and wags her happy tail. I do know she will tell me when she's ready when she is. Thank you for your thoughts, friendship, and love for us.

Evangeline, it's funny you mention your mom's dog
was a German Shepherd/Rottweiler mix. So is Brittany. Thanks for sharing that story.

Sweetie, I'm here for you.
Spitfire, you are doing the right thing.  Brittany still has life and love and happiness to give.  When she's ready she will let you know.  Granny let me know when it was time.  Germ let me know when it was time.  Dixie let me know when it was time.  You know, right now is not time.  Love, Laugh, and have good times.  Those are what Brittany will take with her. (you know you'll meet her soul again).  I love you, sis.

Our Bruce
After my dad died, we got my mom a dog to help her with her depression.  We named him Bruce, for Bruce Springsteen.  That dog turned out to be the best animal I've ever known.  He was utterly devoted to my mom.  He was a shepard, rottweiler mix, but he had such a gentle nature.  After 15 years, we had to put him down. His arthritis was so bad at that point, he couldn't walk or stand any longer.  It was devastating.  I hope he understood how special he was to us.  He literally saved my mother's life.

RachelA, I am taking advantage of all the time we have left together.
Thank you for commenting here! I must tell Brittany what a large fan club she has!  I'm grateful to all of you

I have tears and goosebumps!
Losing a dog is awful.  I really feel for you and Brit both.  You're a good Mom though...  I hope you guys get to spend some more good time together!

Thank you so much for your thoughts, buxomW,
They really mean a lot to me. I cherish my Brittany and right now, it is difficult for me to even look at her. I refuse to cry in front of her.

HolyG, I thank you sincerely for your comments
and I truly hope your Mountain is okay. That was so sweet when you said you wished you could give a few of your own years of life to him. I believe if I could, I would, too for my Brit.

Oh, I'm so sad to read this - I am so sorry you and your pony-girl are
experiencing this, Spitfire. I wish I could do something to help. I am thinking of you with much, much love .

Spitfire
I'm so sorry.  I was really hoping to hear good news. But I think you are right, that she will let you know when she's ready.  Sometimes I think facing our pets' mortality is harder than facing our own.  My poor old Dog Mountain isn't doing too well all of a sudden (I'm sure having his face ripped up didn't do wonders either.)  I swear sometimes I wish I could trade in a few years of my own life to give him more.  Take care of yourselves.

My beloved Fire,
I'm just crying and dying inside, knowing how you must be feeling. Keep up your spirits, and you will know when it is time to let go of the pony-dog. Give her a kiss from me, and from Rocky.

Spitfire, I'm so sorry about the news. Pets are family and
they often touch our lives in ways no one else can.  Enjoy them while we can...
