Well THANK YOU very much, FirstFig!

It's funny, in fact, because I do the same thing! If it is too long and I just don't have time to read it there and then, I print it out and read it at work or later on, then I go back and comment.   There were one or two comments regarding this post that I really don't think understood it...obviously. Did ya read those?

Thanks again for reading!

Yes, Runsatdawn, I am in Florida!
Such a bad rap we get since the last election. Will the jokes EVER stop?! It was even proven that the ballots were printed uneven. Sheesh. Anyway, yeah, we all don't always have insightful comments to post; that's for sure. Glad you "got" the point of it being a huge pattern of "Hi's" with certain people. Not that big of a deal once in a while, but constantly and seemingly every few minutes. How can someone read long blogs AND comment within a few minutes? Hmmm... Anyway, thanks for droppin by!

BRAVO!
I simply get annoyed with the Hi's and the quick burps that have nothing to do with what I have poured my time, heart and soul into. That is my only problem with this site. There are no rules for commenting. Thanks for posting this. I hope everyone reads it and thinks the next time they blog. I acually read a blog yesterday where a woman was wanting to tell us something but truncated it because to tell all would make too long of a blog. If a blog is a long one, but it is a good story and I don't have time, I will print it and read it later and then comment ON THE CONTENT. If we truly respect each other as writers and readers, then we will take the time to truly express that respect.

Im terribly sorry to hear about the bad weather your having there, its been
raining alot here too. But cheer up, things will get better! (dont get mad, get GLAD! handy wrap!) It works wonders! By the way, I enjoy most of your blogs, however, sometimes I read all of the posts I start reading, and sometimes I loose interest, but either way, I try to let the blogger know I have been reading them. Most posts that I leave a comment on, I have read the whole thingy. Have a wonderful day!  Please

You are completely right.

We all do that, right? I wish I had more comments too and that they were more meaningful.

I just found out you live in Florida too thanks to Are You Blogging With Your Neighbor? Long live FL, right?

Sometimes we just want to drop in and let you know we were here. I just went back and read your last six posts.

So Y'all leave Spitfire alone now.!

Hey there, Schatz!
LOL! Good one. Yeah, as I said before, on occasion, ya just want to read and move on so you can read as much as possible in the short time frame ya have to even be here! I don't have kids like you, but I do understand how busy life is. I have way too many projects going on all at once (story of my life!) Thanks for stoppin by!

Sugarbaby,
Well, actually, you're quite wrong about why I wrote it. It sure ain't about the clicks. If you know anything about me (apparently, you don't) you'd know that's not my style. We all appreciate the clicks, but I don't go to extreme measures or the old tricks to get them. (You know, i.e. naming certain bloggers in the title of a blog) I have been on Blogit for about a year and really, I just think you misunderstood me and my post. So, when you said, "it sounds to me that you are jealous. You may 31 comments on this but you only wrote this post so that you can get the clicks. So don't be so judgemental." Again you're wrong. So don't be so judgemental.

T-99,
Actually,  it really doesn't matter who I'm talking about. (If it did, I would have named names) It was just some thoughts and opinions I threw out there. I don't even have anything against the ones who do it, personally. It was just something that had been bugging me so I blogged about it. I actually continue to read those people, too. Anyway, thanks for the comments!

A JEALOUS PERSON
I actually agree with Tamara99. But also it sounds to me that you are jealous. You may 31 comments on this but you only wrote this post so that you can get the clicks. So don't be so judgemental.

I guess I'm blind and naive, 'cause I haven't the foggiest idea who you're talking about.

Just kidding!  I do it at times, like when I haven't been on for a while, can't stay long, and have lots to read.  I want my favorites to know I'm still with 'em, and the new or just looked interesting clicks to know someone is out there.  I mean, is it a big deal if I don't have something to say every time?  Sometimes, there's a crying one year old who needs lunch and a nap.  Doesn't mean I don't wanna say more, I just can't.

EccentricShock,

You don't have to "explain yourself" nor defend others who drop in to say "hi".  AS I STATED IN THE BLOG..."Don't get me wrong, we all sometimes just leave a quick comment, but that's not the point. It seems to be the same bloggers repeating these commenting tactics on a regular basis. That is the difference."

As for your other comment, re-read this part of my blog... "It's always nice to know that someone has read you, but sometimes hard to really know when these types of comments are left. Especially when the same thing happens by the same bloggers in other bloggers' comment section."

See?  Thanks for commenting as usual. Always appreciated!

Okay. Thanks for clarifying many times about your personal stand on this issue about true comments.

posted by mariantonia on May 31, 2004 at 9:05 PM | link to this | reply

mariantonia,

You said,  "I actually got a comment not to analysize / criticize from someone..."  Whomever it was that wrote that to you is obviously too sensitive and not able to handle the other side of writing...being criticized, questioned, challenged, and sometimes even insulted for stating views. Also, they are obviously either so closed minded that they can't handle hearing any view except of those in agreement, and/or they don't really care about being read in the first place.

You also stated, "If I know that someone dislikes critical comments, then of course, I  just read and keep quiet or write something non-sensitive." That of course, is your choice. I wouldn't read anyone that I knew that either blocks all comments or can't handle them. I just don't think you should have to walk on egg shells or stifle your opinion or thoughts just because someone can't handle it. Who cares? It's your opinion and you're entitled to it...especially if it's blogged on a network such as ours. I say, comment away!

posted by SpitFire70 on May 31, 2004 at 8:59 PM | link to this | reply

Oh, and Kay-Ren,
I think it's a good thing that you comment first and read other comments afterwords. It makes your comments genuine and completely unbiased from others' comments and thoughts.

posted by SpitFire70 on May 31, 2004 at 8:47 PM | link to this | reply

Yes. I read this post. I actually got a comment not to analysize / criticize from someone.  We can't please everyone using the same measures. If I know that someone dislikes critical comments, then of course, I  just read and keep quiet or write something non-sensitive. Actually the option is there for a blog not to have a comment section. A blogger told me he removed the comment posting section due to very objectable feedback.

I respect different opinions and that everyone has paid so much resources to post something up.

posted by mariantonia on May 31, 2004 at 8:47 PM | link to this | reply

Kay-Ren
LOL!  But actually, no one needs to prove to anyone that they've read a post. As I said, I have left a few non-detailed comments but that doesn't mean I didn't read it. It just means I really didn't have anything interesting to say. It has nothing to do with the blog being interesting or not. The problem I addressed is toward the bloggers that do it constantly.  Thanks for the feedback!

I'm still confused even after your revised comment! Whatcha mean? Me not vawwy smawt!

mariantonia,
Did you read this blog? You kinda repeated what I wrote, but added the disagreement point. I would rather a reader comment by disagreeing with me and state their view than fake that they have read the blog. If some can't handle taking it, they shouldn't dish it out. Thanks for commenting.

posted by SpitFire70 on May 31, 2004 at 8:37 PM | link to this | reply

Darn it, I wish that I'd thought to be a smartass.

Excellent post. Yes, I really read it. I haven't read all the other comments left. I do that after I have left mine. How can we prove we've read a post? There are times when I am too tired to be leaving any comment, but I do anyway. I sometimes wish we could take our comments back.

Personally, I don't mind the quick 'Hi', comments. I choose to think they read my post, but weren't inspired by it. Okay, now to read the other comments.

oh, and Meriamne,

Just to inform you, I killed Pete after serving the bastard 13 beers and took a sledgehammer to his dumb ass 4 months ago. He's buried in the backyard. How could you not have known?

Spitfire.
I never stop by with a hi or a rose if I havent read.  I also don't like explaining myself...in defense of others who drop in to say HI, I thought the same as you.  Have a dropped in on you and done this, nope.  most of the bloggers I have seen doing this just want to let you know they were there and have probably been commenting more passionately elsewhere perhaps on the same blogger....This border just plain complaining, but that's cool.  Whatever ya wanna do, to each his own. Hi;)

Sometimes, there's nothing new to add so we just leave a general comment to let others know we've been here. There are some bloggers who actually replied to comments to say that they dislike people leaving comments that disagree with their views. Guess we can't win on this issue.

Spitfire,

I know what you mean!  Those Yankees are bound to win the World Series again sometime.  I mean, something has got to come out right, what with all that trouble you're having with your dog.

I'm so sorry to hear that you are struggling.  Tell your mom I said hi and give my best to ol' Pete.

Love,

Meriamne

tremacc,
agreed. The point is that you don't just "leave a rose" very often. These particular bloggers do these things on a constant basis. Becomes quite obvious after a while! Thanks for commenting!

posted by SpitFire70 on May 31, 2004 at 6:20 PM | link to this | reply

Good point, I've also wondered the same thing.   One good, real comment is worth ten hi's... though I have to admit I sometimes leave a rose when I don't really have a comment but liked the post... or wanted the writer to know that someone is reading them.

By they way, did I say Hi?

I would trade 1000 clicks for 1 meaningful comment,
which showed me that someone "got" what I was trying to say, or it moved them in some way, even if just to laugh or ponder. I also try not to leave just a "hi" or whatever, but sometimes I want a blogger to know that I did come by and liked their post, instead of being another invisible click...so I might say something with very little substance.
