I'd heard or read the story about Kerouac before. But I don't think I've thought about him in years. Thanks for the memory jog.
I believe you're right about some of us having a need or compulsion to wite. Ignoring this need usually leads to a lot of personal dissatisfaction with one's life. I can vouch for that.

did you know
that Jack Kerouac wrote his novel "On The Road" on a continous roll of paper and that is how he submitted it to his editor? I lived in his home town for 2 years and walked the streets he walked. Amazing little mill town.
This story reminds me of what I read about him and reinforces the idea that writing is not always choice. For some it is a need so strong that only the words are considered and in my mind those are the words I most like to read.
