Perhaps I should have read both of your comments before replying to either.  I sometimes have to make a chart of character and place names when working on longer pieces and works that are a series of connected pieces.  Even then I often end up with a character owning two different names, along with other inconsistencies.  This is why I try to emphasize how important it is to reread your own material so that you can revise and rewrite as necessary.  Its also interesting how much effect an appropriate fictional name can have on a story.  When I change names, I find that sometimes a difficult character takes on a new personality that makes a given story or episode work.  When I'm at a loss for an appropriate name for a fact-based character, I often use a sound-alike name until I think of one that works.

Its familiar to me in the thoughts that inspired it and the way it is written. Makes me wish for a better memory though since I have forgotten names as well and some of those forgotten names did change my life...
