Lost and Found Blog

Someone told me I'd posted my "Living in New Orleans" column incorrectly. So, I fixed it.  Then it disappeared and some that had bookmarked it lost it.  For those of you searching and can't find, I think it's back (with an updated post regarding the first Mardi Gras parade I saw this week).  Click into your favorites again and I'll try to do better.

Blogs with images or links to images

Hello everybloggy:

I am new to this and excited about it, would like to share my comic strip included in the blog (if possible). ...  Hmm?  Still trying to figure my way around this new media.

Intro-ducing...

G'day kiddies. I'm new to this whole blogging flogging, and thought I'd pop in to introduce myself. Don't worry, I'm not here to push or advertize my blog - if it is to be read, it will be - but what I am here for is to say g'day and, as stated, introduce myself. I am Alkamyst (my real name is Tony), I'm an Aussie, and I have been writing for well over twenty years - mostly horror and science fiction; I class myself as a dark humorist, and no, I haven't had anything professionally published, that's not what I'm interested in . . . yet. I don't believe in all the rules and regulations - the technicalities so to speak - of writing. I see writing as purely for my own pleasure, a venting if you will, and, most of the time, that's the way I approach it. But that's neither hither nor thither. What I'd like to know is . . . what the hell happens to all the holes in donuts?

Some of you younger readers would probably class me as an old fart - I am 44 - but in my opinion, it's the mind that dictates one's age, the body is merely a vessel and bananas will always be bent. Now, down to the serious matters. I write my blog in chapters - some much longer than others - and have been writing them for around ten years. I am now up to chapter 24 (yeah, okay, so I'm not prolific, but hey, it's quality, not quantity...isn't it?). What I'd like to know, seriously, is this the wrong thing to do?

Admittedly, I haven't read a great deal here yet, I've only been active for a couple of days, and what I've read so far - great stuff, by the way - has always been short, precise, and around one or two paragraphs long. Am I actually doing the wrong thing by making my 'pieces' too long? Personally, I like entertaining my readers if I can, and making money from my writing isn't really that important (I will admit openly though, that it would be nice. Hey, I'm not completely stupid. LOL), but with memors, or diaries, or opinions etc., is too much, well, too much I suppose? I'm looking forward to reading some opinions, and getting to know some of you here in time. And I'd like to finish off by saying, that should you wish to have a look through my blog - it is for mature readers - not so much sex, but language and, 'un-normal' opinions and ideas so to speak (mind you, as I state in the intro., around 20% of it is fiction). Thanks for your time and patience.

What is SWAP?

I got this question posed to me by ginnieb:  What is SWAP?

It's short for the Student Work Abroad Program.  Basically, if you're a student (or under a certain age...not sure what that is exactly) you can apply for this.  They organize your working visa (holiday makers visa for up to 2 years) and give you a ton of information about the country you choose to go work in.

For example, I am a Canadian working in Scotland, just south of Edinburgh.  There's an office in Edinburgh that I can go to if I have any questions or if I need to find a job, a place to live, etc.  That's about it.  It makes finding a job really easy, and takes some of the pressure off.  Here's the website if anyone's interested:

Where's the BEEF?

So far my account says I have earned one cent. My God, how pathetic. But I'm not in it for the money, but gee whiz it's been at one cent for days now and I keep on writing and writing. Will I ever get my two cents - or more?

Talk about generalizing!!

Dang is it hard to find a category fitting what you want! I'm new to the network and have a more abstract look to things. For lack of better place for my words, I chose the Everything Else category. Look forward to some other abstract viewpoints and can't wait to read some of the poetry!!
