A Garland of Seaweed

a garland of seaweed was left behind on the beach just beyond the slow lapping waves each sepia cluster lay facing away from the ocean as if mermaids in their haste to a party relinquished jewels too heavy to carry to Neptune's cave perhaps instead they chose barnacle amulets and silvery blue pearls...
