Carrie (Stephen King's first book)

This is the first Stephen King thriller that hit the best-seller lists, about a girl named Carrie White with telekinesis who does indeed ruin her prom night out of a sense of vengeance. To set up the plot of the book a little, Carrie White has been isolated all her life by a mother whose idea of... Sign in to see full entry.

Moving Violations: the autobiography of ABC reporter John Hockenberry

John Hockenberry is a reporter for ABC News who is seen primarily on 20/20 and programs of that ilk, doing what he does best. He has done stories on being a disabled person in the job market in addition to his Gulf War work, and these stories are among the most believable of the investigative-report... Psychic Warrior

David Morehouse's story is the stuff of fiction. It tells his take on the Stargate remote-viewing program sponsored by the Army during the eighties (to the best of my memory). I was not as impressed with this story as I was with other books in this genre, about the same program, but with a more... Sign in to see full entry.

He**, no, I won't go

I don't feel that news on the Web is something one should pay for. Here in Chicago, we had a wonderful link to the Chicago Tribune which was exclusive to Chicago-area AOL members, and which I loved because it was well-organized and provided the same stories as the print version without having to... Enews is much more environmentally sound

Even with the advent of recycling and soy-based inks and other environmentally-friendly innovations, I don't see the need for the printed paper anymore. (This from a certified book junkie - visualize a grin on my face!) The paper industry is just too unfriendly to the environment for my taste.... Sign in to see full entry.

Love, Medicine and Miracles

Bernie Siegel, MD, is revered in the New Age community and has become popular among the general public, which has become tired of medicine as it has traditionally been practiced. This is because he is much more realistic than many New Age healers, who believe that all you have to do is think... Sign in to see full entry.

An Anthropologist on Mars

There is a reason why neurologists and forensic scientists make some of the best writers - their cases are among the most interesting, and they are among the most literate of physicians. Oliver Sacks is no exception. This book provided the second of his works to be made into a major motion picture;... Sign in to see full entry.

How To Be A Perfect Stranger, third edition

(Another one to delete off the Epinions.com database. Besides, I want to practice my copy-and-paste skills.) This is indeed a necessary book, and I am surprised that nobody reviewed this book before. It actually details manners appropriate to each religion's ceremonies - such as how to behave at a... Sign in to see full entry.

The Bible (yes, I wrote a book review of it)

(No way am I going to link to the best-selling book in Western civilization. I just want to get this review out of the Epinions.com database and into someplace where I have at least a shot of making a buck off the review.) The Bible has lasted so long because it is indeed a timeless classic. It has... Sign in to see full entry.

Our Dumb Century: An embryonic book review

(Another Epinion I'm deleting - look at how short this review is. I mean, does it really tell you what I think of the book? I don't think so.) The Onion is a satirical newspaper which is the equivalent of Weird Al in the music world - in other words, if there's a headline about it, The Onion will... Sign in to see full entry.
