I think the one thing that can always bring me into a writing mode would have to be building a huge fire. Well, I can't say at night in my case, because I work the graveyard, but I find I often can't sleep because that's just less time I get to spend with my boyfriend before he goes to prison. This time. I want to know one thing about your lover that breaks your heart. For instance: My lover is an acute alcoholic. He'll be going to jail for violating his probation... a probation for something he did almost SIX years ago. His offense was VERY MINOR, but he could go away for up to 5 years....
