Back 4 a short while.

hi everyone, Yes i'm back but only for a mont just so that my "legacy" at Blogit is not erased. It has been an amazing year. I left Blogit just before my exhibition- ewell that did not go as well as it should but almost everything else did. My divorce became final on September 14th, I self published my first children story and I bought my first flat. Now, I'm working to launch Arabic language classes for kids at Berlitz, I'm trying to find a publisher for the rest of my stories, not to mention... Sign in to see full entry.

Last post for a few weeks

Thanks everyone for your comments and wishes. I just want you to know that I cannot survive without you guys and would have loved to have your suggestions and opinions with this exhibition, the problem is that I'm so busy I can't seem to be able to get worried about it.I don't know if this is a good thing but that how things are at the moment. I'll do my best to come back as soon as I have some time on my hands (wishful thinking!). Take care Sign in to see full entry.

Christmas break.. what break???

Hi guys, I have to keep this post short, I have been working at break-neck speed for the past month. I had to take up the lessons of teachers who took a leave for the holidays and it's been very hectic. I was also invited to show my work at a local gallery on January 30th. My paintings arrived 2 days ago from Egypt and they need some serious repair and retouching as well as framing- a lot of work indeed. I'll be very busy in the coming weeks as my brother is coming to visit from the UK and Adam... Sign in to see full entry.

Eid Mubarak

Hi everyone, Today is the first day of the Grand Eid (Eid al Adha). It is the pivotal day of Hajj after pilgrims have finished their vigil on Mount Arfah. I have just finished work and I'm teaching 4 lessons tomorrow starting at 8 a.m. Will try to make the occasion special for Adam as best as I can although, with my dad away in Malta, it's a bit lonely. Will catch up with you later guys. Take care and have a wonderful weekend. Sign in to see full entry.

Stuff of nightmares

No one said that life as a single mother would be easy, but yesterday was super tough by any standard. I started work at 8 in the morning and finished in 6.30. In the three "free" hours that I had, I had to buy food, pick up Adam from school, take him home, give him lunch and then take him to his English language class. He had been sick for 4 days but because the babysitter was sick too I had no choice but to send him to regular school as well as the ESL class and then leave him at the child... Almost forgot what this place is about

It has been more than six weeks; six weeks of non-existence in the virtual world, but in the real world they were so hectic I am in bed with exhaustion. I managed to get a proper internet connection at last, so now I surf the net in real time rather than the patience-testing wireless modem I had which left me completely cut off from the world! My father has been in Malta for the past 10 days and will not be back before a week so I am on my own in every sense of the word. The good news is that... Sign in to see full entry.

Thinking of you!

Hi everyone, I know I haven't been much of a blogger recently but I just can't get my act together yet! Lesson are few at Belritz at the moment -which is a real problem in its own right. I am hoping that next week will be better and I will feel more in control than I do at the moment. I came across this article and I couldn't resist posting it, "Forced to be big" is a frightening examination of a custom I had not idea existed. We all know that different cultures have different definitions of... Sign in to see full entry.

First day on the job

Today I had my first lessons as Berlitz teacher: 3X40 min. lessons at a bank. A courier picked me up at 7.10 as my lessons start at 7.30 but guess what? I had a "NO SHOW"! Apparently the two bankers who were meant to get this lesson canceled at the last moment but failed to notify the school in time. They will still be charged for the lesson and I will get paid my usual rate so I guess I can't complain. My schedule for tomorrow remains undecided until 15.00, I will have to get used to planning... Back in the fold

I passed my trial lesson!!!!!!!! It wasn't a perfect performance but I got the job and that's the most important thing at the end of the day. The pay is at this moment meager to say the least (7 USD per 40 minutes), but it's a big step towards independence. Adam had his first meeting with his dad yesterday. It passed without any major incidents but I can't wait for the end of this state of emergency laws! I would like to thank you all for your support and warm wishes, I don't know how I would've...
