new blog category please

i'd llke it to be called someting scary like metaphysics and scholastics, although philosophy and social science would do as well. i think it is important that blogit, which is ill named (too childish), needs to have some sort of a core aside from the chat and political opinion aspects. which are plesant and/or theraputic enough. serious exchanges about writing could supply that core, but i think that blogit is in a unique position to provide a forum for people who want to get philosophical or scholastic ideas off their minds, or "try them" on others, but are not in a university setting or don't have access to the publication world. I suppose people in these settings would be a little wary about revealing things they intend to publish, but there is also an impulsiveness to critical thought that is not that much different than blathering on about one's favorite song or movie, so it's possible that if the forum were healthy enough, meaning you can believe that there are really hundreds of people who could potentially be reading your thoughts, established names just might feel compelled to drop in. what is important is that there is enough people involved so that if someone burns out it doesn't cripple the dialog, which is largely the situation now. the obvious starting point is to have a category named in such a way that people will deliberately avoid it if they are not interested. i'd also request your deleting lists and whatnot, and making no appologies about it. as it is it is difficult to find these types of blogs and they tend to dissappear for lack of feedback.
