Burning summer

Summer fires linger out where I can’t see them Their smoke colors the horizon a lead-blue, Heavy and reeking it finds me Until the sun sets And scorches the clouds deep red Blood of the trees destroyed Making tears in the eyes of the sun As once again nature makes mere men Look like wimps.
