My Favorite Martian is a Microbe?

It seems there is water on Mars, some in ice, possibly some water vapor, and maybe even some water in the soil. Is this enough to support life? Will we find microbes, or viruses? Will there be invertebrates? I wish we'd start moving toward putting people on Mars to explore and begin to find answers... Sign in to see full entry.

What did we learn?

Has anyone seen any news items regarding what, if anything, new we learned during Mars' close approach to the Earth? I would think we'd be able to fine tune some data, find some clues about water on Mars, determine additional facts about its atmosphere, and so forth. Anyone hear or read anything of...
