Packing a Bag for the Tropics

This year in the farmer's market, I encountered a woman who makes wonderful outfits just perfect for a tropical vacation. The skirt is a sarong that is lined and made of easy care material. The top has beaded straps and can be worn in the evening. In addition, she makes a shawl with can be worn over... Sign in to see full entry.

Salem Oregon

Every month, I visit Salem. It is the capital of Oregon and has several state prisons. Unusual. Many of the citizens are government employees. I like Salem. It has a thriving downtown. The people are friendly and easy to converse with. It has only ordinary traffic and an interstate running through... Sign in to see full entry.

What to bring.

In my opinion, the best way to travel is to pack light. There may be a time when you forget something important, but most of the time we bring to much stuff. I used to bring a small carryon sized bag when I traveled and still come home with clean clothes. The most important thing is variety. I went... Sign in to see full entry.

Things to do and see in Kent, WA

Some of you may live in a tourist spot, but I don't. We live here because my husband got a job here and it has good schools. There is not much you say about Kent except for the natural environment. Western Washington has beautiful trees, that will grow without any prompting from humans. Grass is a... Sign in to see full entry.

The Islamic Center

Yesterday in Kent, WA, I went to get an espresso at two in the afternoon. There were a lot of cars in the parking lot and lots of people coming out of a building behind the espresso stand. The building had a sign on it calling it the Islamic Center. The building was behind another unmarked building... Sign in to see full entry.

This week I'm staying home.

After sleeping on a recliner for two nights, sleeping in my own bed is a luxury. I also enjoy working on my own computer and being in my own house. Traveling can be fun but even if its not it makes you appreciate living in your own home. Sign in to see full entry.

Car travel

When I drive I need to keep myself awake and amused. Today, I have the remainder of a book on tape to listen to. I'm also going to get a four shot espresso before I go, so that I can keep awake. Some people like to stop at rest stops because they save time. I prefer to stop at towns because I like... Sign in to see full entry.

Sleeping at my mother's house.

I slept in my mother's apartment. She has one bed and a recliner in her apartment, so I slept on the recliner. Next time, I'll bring my air mattress and sleep on the floor. This time I brought the right amount of stuff in a small suitcase, the size that fits on a European overhead compartment.... Sign in to see full entry.

Travel Between Portland and Seattle

When I go on I-5 to visit my mother, I like to stop at Centralia, because they have a outlet shopping mall and then at Kalama because it is easy in and easy out. I stop just to break up the trip. Otherwise it seems too long and boring. Sign in to see full entry.

Our camping ended abruptly.

One of my housemates called and said that someone had called about my mother. She is in the hospital with another heart attack. I'm going to visit her tomorrow and stay until she comes home. My brother is out of town. He lives in the same city as her. I was partly disappointed to end our camping... Sign in to see full entry.
