EARLY RETURNS

Since it's Primary Tuesday this week, I thought I'd give some eraly returns on week one of the football season. By the way, I know that this time last year I said I was giving up this blog, but habits are hard to break and the economy is bad. So here goes: DON'T GO TO PHILADELPHIA THIS WEEK! The... THE AIR DIDN'T GO OUT OF THE BALLOON

A therapist on my job had a New Orleans Saints balloon hanging in her office since the NFC championship game. I looked at it and said, "If the air doesn't go out of that ballooon before Friday, the Saints are gonna win." Well, the air didn't go out of that balloon. And, as I've been doing every day... THE ANNUAL SUPER BOWL MEMORY BLOG

With a little extra this year as it gets harder and harder to think up these things. So, at the end, I will give you my personal best Super Bowl moment and the five championship teams I would have liked to have been a part of. So here goes: Forty-Niner players arriving late to Super Bowl XVI in... Sign in to see full entry.

THE TWO LEAD HORSES

In the worst NFL season that I can remember, the two lead horses all year are going to the Super Bowl. That's right, the New Orleans Saints who started 13-0 and the Indianapolis Colts who did them one better by going 14-0 to start the season are going to Miami. Indy got there by beating the New York... Sign in to see full entry.

VINDICATION

All we've heard the last month is that the Colts and Saints were making a mistake by resting their players with first round byes and home field advantage locked up. They will lose their rhythm and timing. Neither team is playing very well. The Colts always lose when they have a first round bye.... Sign in to see full entry.

TAKING A PASS

I took a pass on wildcard weekend. And for a man who's as big a football fan as I am, that's saying something. None of the games really intrigued me. The one I watched most was Jets-Bengals. Cincinnati's Marvin Lewis got outcoached in my opinion. The Jets were the better team period. Same with... Sign in to see full entry.

THE STORY OF A SEASON

The Reverand at my church has been stressing the fact that "God helps those who help themselves". With that in mind lets look at the last weekend of the NFL season and the upcoming playoffs. In the AFC, today, five teams went in with 8-7 records and two playoff spots available. The Baltimore Ravens... Sign in to see full entry.

THE PERFECT SEASON

First off, forgive me for not wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. Hope it was a good one. Happy New Year. Hope this year is better than all the others combined. As for football, there has been talk of the NFL going to an 18 game schedule. My question would be besides more revenue why? The season is... Sign in to see full entry.

AND THEN THERE WAS ONE

With the Saints loss to Dallas on Saturday night(and no it was not an upset. The law of averages had to catch up with one or both of the undefeateds sooner or later), Indiannapolis is left to carry the torch as the only unbeaten team in the NFL this year. And with it comes all of the questions,... Sign in to see full entry.

OVERTHINKING, OVERANALYZING

As football fans, we have a tendency to over think and over analyze when our teams aren't doing well. This player isn't any good or that man can't coach. This team or coach can't handle the pressure. This group is overrated. And, one of my favorites, this team has quit. Most of the time we are way... Sign in to see full entry.
