Socialization--The Big Hurdle

Not all mentally ill people are alike, but socialization is a difficult for most people with a mental illness. My daughters are also shy which doesn't help. When they are psychotic. their ideas make other people uncomfortable. When they are no longer psychotic, they no longer have the courage they... Sign in to see full entry.

Obedience and Independence

My generation was raised to be disobedient. The worst thing you could do as an employee was to be insubordinate. I raised my son to be independent. He was fired once with insubordination. He also has some problem following directions, but he has been independent since he graduated from high school,... Sign in to see full entry.

Everything is government funded,

with the exception of advocacy. There are a few exceptions of course, but not many. This means that when government is hurting because of tax reform and a slowed economy, mental health programs are cut. I read the RCW

Myself regarding GAX and it is very vague for the requirements. Maybe there is more than what is published online. I need to call the Welfare Rights Organizing Coalition. They will tell me what's what and make sure that the workers do what is right according to the law. Sign in to see full entry.

My friend in DSHS

admitted that she doesn't do a good job by her clients. There are too many workers per clients. In addition, the rules change so frequently that she doesn't really know them. Can look them up on line and see what its says. The other problem is that there isn't enough money for all who are eligible.... Sign in to see full entry.

If you are honest, getting money from the Government isn't easy

I lived on welfare for six years during the good old days, when welfare payments were "generous" and it wasn't difficult to get on. But even then, there were forms to fill out every month and if you missed one, your payments were cut off. It took the help of a student lawyer to get it reinstated. I... Sign in to see full entry.

Gravely Disabled

means that you are unable to care for yourself. If you live with your parents, it is very very rare, that you would be classified as such. So if your son or daughter is refusing mental health care, then it is recomended that you throw them out on the street and they can be considered gravely... Sign in to see full entry.
